Baer Dental has recently installed advanced iTero intra oral 3D digital scanning technology to deliver superior results in restorative dentistry.

Existing Devices in Intra Oral Scanning Technology

Intra oral mapping technology has emerged as one of the most promising new areas in dentistry. The technology allows the orthodontist and the cosmetic dentist to perform three dimensional scanning of the mouth for a variety of procedures. About 10 intra oral scanning devices for restorative dentistry have been developed around the world, but only a few of these are available on the market as yet, while others are still going through clinical tests.

As an experienced dentist who is committed to providing best in class treatments to patients in Aurora, Parker, Centennial, Denver, Elizabeth and Franktown, CO, and nearby locations, Dr. Baer has adopted the foremost among these technologies, the iTera Intral Oral Digital Scanning technology for his office. Apart from iTero, the other scanning devices under development currently or introduced in the market are as follows:

  • CEREC® – by Sirona Dental System GMBH (DE)
  • E4D – by D4d Technologies, LLC (US)
  • Lava™C.O.S. – by 3M ESPE (US)
  • IOS FastScan – by IOS Technologies, INC. (US)
  • DENSYS 3D – by DenSys Ltd. (IL)
  • DPI-3D – by Dimensional Photonics International, Inc. (US)
  • 3D Progress – by MHT S.p.A. (IT) and MHT Optic Research AG (CH)
  • directScan – by HINT – ELS GMBH (DE)
  • trios – by 3SHAPE A/S (DK)

In many of these technologies, it is still often necessary to apply certain coatings on the teeth to reduce the noise of the measurement and to rest the camera wand on a tooth to get a steady focus. iTera faces the least of such limitations, and provides for the operator’s convenience while achieving a very comfortable patient experience.

iTero by Cadent Ltd. (IL) (Now available at Baer Dental)

The Cadent iTero digital impression system by Cadent Ltd. employs a parallel confocal imaging technique. iTero captures all the materials and structures in the mouth without the need to apply any reflective coating to the patient’s teeth. The technology determines surface topologies of adjacent portions of the mouth from two or more different angular locations. It then collates these surface topologies to obtain a complete three dimensional representation of the entire structure.

When the digital impression exercise is over, the dentist can choose from a series of diagnostic tools to evaluate the completion of the impression. The completed digital impression is then transmitted through a HIPPA-compliant wireless system to the dental lab and the Cadent facility. Finally, the model is milled from a proprietary blended resin for sustainable and aesthetically superior results.
