Pinhole Surgery
Gum disease—whether it is mild, moderate, or severe periodontitis—can cause massive issues to the gums; some of these issues cannot simply be resolved by removing the diseased tissue. One major component of gum disease is gum recession. Once gum recession hits a certain point of severity, it can cause major oral health issues, and it can be very difficult to repair. Luckily, there are different options for the repair of a patient’s gums once they have receded—one of which being the pinhole surgical technique.
Pinhole Surgical Technique
The pinhole surgical technique is a newer, less invasive option for the treatment of gum recession. The pinhole surgical technique involves a dentist creating a small hole for a special tool to be placed through to loosen and reshape the gums. This, in turn, encourages the gums to cover the exposed roots.
