Why Should I Opt For Porcelain Veneers?

The right set of porcelain veneers can be the difference between a dreary, dull smile and a stunning white, lifelike smile! This treatment option is perfect for patients who are looking to revamp their smile with a quick and easy dental cosmetic procedure.

What Are Porcelain Veneers?

This treatment option consists of thin eggshell-like porcelain restorations that become bonded to the outer sides of teeth. The thin restorations are made tailored to fit the shade, shape, and size of what may be needed for the look of your smile.

This procedure is perfect for patients who have overall damaged teeth with cracks or chips as well as major discoloration. Instead of adjusting just one or two teeth at a time, porcelain veneers give patients the opportunity to have a more consistent look.

How Are Veneers Bonded?

The patient must first be deemed as a good candidate for the procedure before moving forward. This means; the candidate must have an overall healthy mouth with healthy gums and teeth. Porcelain veneers are strictly meant for aesthetic upgrades, so the health of the teeth must be normal before the procedure.

Once the patient is deemed as a candidate, the dentist will take either a mold or digital impression of the patient's teeth to send to the dental lab. The dental lab will create the porcelain veneer restorations, tailored to that patient and send them back to the dental office.

When the restorations arrive at the dentist's office, he or she will call the patient back for the final appointment. During this appointment, patient’s teeth must be prepped to receive the veneers. To do this, the dentist contours the teeth to allow room for the veneers to be bonded.

This is done so that the teeth do not look extremely bulky when the veneers are added. The veneers are extremely thin shell-like restorations, however, they cannot simply be added to the natural teeth without the complete removal of the teeth’s enamel.

When the enamel has been removed, the dentist will now measure and test each veneer to every tooth to ensure the shape, size, and color of each restoration matched with the natural teeth.

When the dentist is happy with the restorations, he or she will officially bond the porcelain veneers to the patient's teeth. This whole process should take only a few hours. The treatment is easy and painless for the patient.

Porcelain is a commonly used material in veneers as it mimics the look, feel, and shine of a natural tooth. When porcelain is polished, it reflects exactly the way a natural tooth would! It is also a strong material that can withstand the average bite pressure as well.

If you’re looking for a quick, easy, and painless way to revamp your whole smile, porcelain veneers may be the right option for you. With the proper care and oral hygiene regimen, porcelain veneers can last a patient many years. Are you ready for a total smile transformation that can often be done in just two appointments?
